Located near Cape Cod
Highland Lighthouse, the Highland
House Museum is one of North Truro’s best known landmarks and it is a
classic example of a turn of the century summer hotel. A visit to the museum
affords a fascinating insight into the everyday life of the past, from the
time of the Pamet Native Americans to the early days of this century, when
electricity and paved roads were unknown in Truro.
The Museum contains 17th century firearms, shipwreck
mementos, early fishing and whaling gear, household tools, farming
implements, furniture, Sandwich glass, a pirate’s chest and much, much
more!

The
Truro Historical Society/Highland Museum is pleased to announce that it
has received support from Truro Treasures, the Truro Cultural Council,
and the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod this year to support our special
exhibits and an expanded program of educational and cultural activities
for children. |

Located
near the Highland House Museum, the Cape Cod Lighthouse is another one of
Truro's best known landmarks. In July 1996, it was jacked up and moved
back from the eroding cliff to save it from falling into the ocean.
A visit to the
Lighthouse will allow you to enjoy our Interpretive Center, view a
10-minute video, and climb the lighthouse tower to take in the beautiful
view from the top.
Take a short
walk from the Lighthouse to our Observation Deck, which is on one of the
highest cliffs on the Cape. Enjoy the view over the beach or in the
evening the frequent spectacular sunsets. There's nothing but ocean
between you and Portugal.
This year Cape Cod
Highland Light House
is 151 years old! . |
